For those experiencing problems viewing the site using Internet Explorer

Just to reassure everyone that it is not a problem with Delia Online, it is happening with other sites as well.

The issue is active scripting is being blocked by IE, Microsoft are aware of the issue and listed this as a help on their system website from one of their support engineers. Hopefully if those affected follow the steps below it will get rid of the problem. We have copied it from their site. If you have any problems, it is probably best to ask them on the Microsoft forum....

Welcome to Microsoft Vista Answers Forum!
Which version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer?
The error message “Object doesn't support this property or method” is a script error which we usually get if any java file gets corrupted.

I have few steps which might help you.
Step 1
To turn off notification about every script error in Internet Explorer 7, follow these steps:
1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. On the Advanced tab, click to clear the Display a notification about every script error check box, and then click OK.

Step 2
Use another user account or another browser to view the Web pages .

Step 3
Verify that Active Scripting, ActiveX, and Java are not being blocked by Internet Explorer

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Security tab.
4. Click Default Level.
5. Click OK.

Step 4
If you do not have the latest service pack or software upgrades for Internet Explorer, download and install them.

Hope the information helps. Please post back and let us know.

One of the Delia Online team did exactly as they suggested here and also upgraded IE7 to IE8 (step 4) also added a few security patches which Microsoft said he needed, but they let you know that automatically. You just have to click on the yellow shield at the bottom, left of the bar at the bottom.

If it's all too much, you can always install Firefox or Safari!

IE

As yow know Noreen, I'm not particularly computer literate. At the top mine says Windows Internet Explorer provided by MSN & Bing. I haven't had the problems others have (yet!) but I've never been able to email you from the site and I find that a bit strange! I've always had to use either Tiscali or Hotmail.

Internet Explorer

Personally, I'd stop at Step 2, (use another browser!). Chrome and Firefox are both really good :)

But i shall print out what nor has provided, and go through the points and see if it helps.

Thanks for doing this nor - i thought it was my aged machine.

Internet Explorer

I keep getting logged out on this site. I'm not very computer literate Noreen and have been unable to follow the instructions you gave above! A friend of mine has promised to come and sort me out. It only seems to appear on this site but I get a message from AOL saying "Ooops - something happened while you are browsing and we will connect you again". I then have to Log In again.

Browsing in IE

I hope your friend can come and help you Dottie May, although it is only happening for you on our site, the IE problem is happening on other big sites similar to ours. You would think they would find an easier way to fix it wouldn't you?

While you wait for your friend why not try to download Mozilla on your computer?

"Noreen, do I have to remove IE before I download Mozilla?"
You can have loads of browsers installed at the same time. Some people like Opera too.

IE

I followed the microsoft advice that Nor posted. There was one line I couldn't follow for some reason, however the problem is 90% resolved. I've been on here several times this morning and only had one 'recover webpage'.

I did download firefox but I don't like it very much.

Browsers

I've downloaded Firefox and there does appear to be some improvement but I've been "thrown off" once here this afternoon and needed to Log On again. My friend who was going to check out my computer for me has gone away for awhile so will have to wait until she returns. In the meantime, many thanks for all the assistance given.

Using Firefox

Hello, Dottie May, now you have Firefox you can turn on Ad Blocker. Hey Presto, no more advertising and the site runs 10 times faster.

This morning, just to be a cleverclogs, I ran Deliaonline in a lightweight browser called Midori on a Linux system running on a tiny computer called a Raspberry Pi which is about the size of a credit card. It ran perfectly, and even edited out all the advertizing without being told to.

No problems!

Many thanks Gazza for the info. I am thick - I've opened Firefox but can't see where to turn on Ad Blocker? Probably right under my nose.
