Royal Welsh Show

Weather is brilliant and will also be tomorrow when we make our annual pilgramage to the Show at Llanwrtyd Wells in Powys. We love to go on a Wednesday to see the Welsh Cobs which is a fantastic day. Weather permitting a Spitfire is going to be flying around the site. If you have Sky you will be able to have a look at events on progrmme S4/C Y Sioe/12. If you love horses its worth a look.

Sounds lovely Dottie May. It was mentioned on the news because the farmers are protesting about the price of milk. I think the farmers should get a fair price for their produce. Hope the weather stays good for the show.

I'm working at the Show tomorrow and Thursday, so I'm glad to hear Dottie May, that those are good days to go. OH will love the Spitfire.

I've just seen the Welsh weather - warm, dry and cloudy for the next 2 days at the Show.

I agree re. milk and what the farmers are to receive from August - Aldi and Morrison are 2 supermarkets paying less than production costs so won't be buying their milk.

Dottie May, I do hope you know where the Royal Welsh Show is or you will be sorely disappointed!

Builth Wells is your destination!

Have fun, it is a fabulous show. So much to see.

Dottie May, I didn't really think you didn't know the way. I was just adding another post to make sure it stayed at the top of the pile. Looks lovely today. Hope it isn't too hot. It is quite an airless location.

Cobs away today!!!

Royal Welsh Show

Many thanks Welsh Cookie and Essex Girl - we had a fabulous time. We arrived just after 8.30 am and left around 5 pm. As we were leaving the festivities were beginning in the Young Farmers area!! We went with friends who are Sponsers so able to enjoy the food and drinks which were provided below the Grandstand. Stayed most of the time in the Grandstand where it was cool but made trips "below". The Cobs were fantastic and so was the display by the Spitfire. There was so much to enjoy throughout the day including Cosack riders, a Hawk Display etc. Didn't do an awful lot of walking because of mobility problems. On the way home we stopped for Fish and Chips to end a pefect day and then early to bed when OH said "I don't envy those Young Farmers" and I replied "I do"!!

Glad you had a FAB time Dottie, and that the weather was fantastic too. Must be marvellous going with people who are involved, I seem to remember they are/were Judges of the Cobs ?

Pity you couldn't meet Kilmory that would have been really nice. perhaps next year?

40c degrees here on the patio at the moment......bloomin' hot

Cobs are very special horses. Much loved and bred, especially, in West Wales. Google Welsh Cobs if you want to see pictures. They are exported all over the world.

Wednesday is Cob Day at the Show when they decide the Supreme Champion. They run them up and down in the ring to whoops and cheers from the crowd.
