Best meal you've eaten outdoors

Ok tell us the most memorable meal you have eaten outdoors. The first one the jumps in to your mind...

Mine was quite a few years ago, we had friends coming over for a late Sunday lunch and the weather was unexpectedly lovely and warm. We didn't have any garden furniture, so carried the dining room table and chairs out. I set it with a proper table cloth and all the cutlery and china I would have normally used inside. We had a Sunday roast with the usual trimmings, followed by trifle. When it began to get dark, we brought out candles and sat outside until very late. I'll never forget it!

Bacon sarnies.

When my children were small , also my Grandsons I used to cook bacon & sausages at home then wander up the field , assemble the butties , open the flask for me , sort the soft drinks for the boys , & we would dine on sandwiches fit for a Queen.
We always took something sweet to follow , usually cake or brownies , something like that , this would be followed by a few squares of chocolate .
We had a tablecloth , it used to look so nice.
More than once a passer by that we knew would join in having a sandwich.we used to be in the corner of the local dog walking field.
Ah happy days.
The bacon tasted better.many times we also took fish fingers

outdoor meal.

I don't think I've ever eaten a "meal" outside apart from a bbq in this country. But when staying with some friends in Italy we did eat a whole meal in their garden with their family. Can't remember much of what we ate, probably pasta and a dessert I think made with ricotta cheese. It was dark when we finished eating.

Holiday meals spring to mind; the best was eaten at a resturant in Skopelos 23 years ago. I can't remember the main course, but pudding was Ice Cream on Fire - basically Baked Alaska covered in booze and set alight.

The restaurant is still going strong and one I want to return to.

Another occasion was tea and cakes at Honey's a couple of years ago. It was the first time I had met up with the Delia crowd and was a truly enjoyable day. We had a super lunch and just couldn't stop chatting. The weather was beautiful and sitting in the sun chatting with friends was a perfect day.

best & cheapest outdoor grub

From 2 guys in Istanbul, one with fishing-line and his pal with a stall where he heated bread and prepared salads; fish caught then assembled with the bread and salad.

Best Meal outdoors.

Jerk chicken outside at the beach restaurant in Jamaica, with the reggae band playing and drinking rum and coke.

At home, one of many family summer parties either here in or Brighton. In particular, chips and beer on the seafront in Brighton.

Fish and chips.......

......out of newspaper, sitting on the prom at Southend looking at the illuminations, circa 1966, then heading off to the Kursaal to spend some pennies in the arcade. Fond memories.

Gravy- had chips walking back from a bar in Brighton last Friday (the blue and white chippy near the pier). Got to say they were one of the most appreciated munches since I was a teenager ;-)

Have never forgotten a picnic with a friend's family when I was about ten years old. We were sitting among the sand dunes at St Andrew's and the bit I always remember was eating gorgeous strawberries on Scottish morning rolls spread with fresh butter! Funny how certain things stick in your mind - I'd never heard of a strawberry sandwich!

Fish and chips in the garden...

It was a very hot July day when we moved in to this house. It had been a long tiring day and the evening was still very warm. We were waiting delivery of our table and chairs so we found a car blanket to sit on then had the best ever fish and chip supper from the local chippy, washed down with champagne in mugs.

I'm not really a breakfast person but there is something rather nice about eating breakfast outside early on a summer morning. The day is fresh and the birds are singing... best part of the day. Greek yoghurt, a nutty muesli or granola sprinkled over and blueberries and raspberries or perhaps fresh pineapple on the top, glass of fruit juice and a cup of coffee.

I love eating outside, it's the best thing about being abroad that you can stay outside until late as it is still warm, and have breakfast outside in the warm morning sun.
We have friends that live in Ibiza and when we go to see them we have every meal out on the terrace. It is so nice sipping wine, sharing food and catching up with old friends.Perfect.

Our best picnic

Luckily there are a few to choose from but the best ever was when I was small and our family went Chessington Zoo for the day. After the picnic near the monkey house, from which the monkeys could escape quite easily, my brother and I explored and found a hole in the official fence onto what must have been part of Epsom Downs.

The area was covered in long grass, about three feet high, and that was good fun enough, but as we were hunting each other we suddenly saw a third head pop up AND IT WAS AN ALIEN with great long ears and a long face with a whiffly nose.

And then three or four more appeared, and we realized that a whole tribe of Wallabies had escaped onto the Downs and were also having fun in the long grass.

We ran like crazy in case they "got" us. That was the best picnic ever, even better than the day we went to London Zoo and Goldie the Golden Eagle escaped from his/her cage and the zoo went into a major panic in case any children were carried off.

Chazza I remember when the Golden Eagle escaped from the zoo! I wasn't exactly at the zoo at the time but was brought up living very close to it.
On a sunday after lunch we would go for a walk in Regents Park and walk round the edge of the zoo as you can peer in at some points and see the some of the animals!

Also a memorable meal outside I remember was the first Valentine with my husband, we drove to Brighton and got fish and chips and sat on the stony beach to eat them. It was dark and cold but we snuggled together and it was very romantic!
