Forum meet up

I had a lovely day today. With Mum (Saffron Senior as was), Essex Girl and Merrie; we met up for coffee and cakes, Lunch and wine and afternoon tea and MORE cake. We spent the whole day non stop chatter and laughs. Thank you Delia Forum for bringing us together. I've made some wonderful friends from here and today was just what I needed.

Aww, so pleased you had a good time - I've been to 2 Delia meet-ups so far and met some lovely people. Isn't it great that we can get to know each other through a shared love of food?

I desperately wanted to come to both of the Brighton meet ups, unfortunately the first one was just after my daughters 18th birthday and I was still dealing with the aftermath and the second one was just after our 25th wedding anniversary and we were away in Marrakech. Hopefully I'll make the next one! X

Agree, it can be such a tonic to meet like-minded people. Just had a quick count up and have met 18 lovely people through this forum, many of them on several occasions.

I'm glad you had a good time. I agree it is really nice to meet people from the forum. We had a good time when we met up in Brighton. I can now put a face to some of the names and know you are all as nice as you sound.

oh you kept that meet up quiet.

its a lovely when the gang gets together isn't it.

I bet more regional ones could be arranged.

If people included their country and region on their profile listing more people would be able to meet up.

I know there are loads of us, up in yorkshire and lincolnshire and manchester and liverpool - must be some midlanders around and the deep combine harvester counties - not forgetting regional meets in canada and america and european countries too.

so a plea - more meet ups MUST be arranged.

I had a count up EG... 22, that does include Mum though :o)

Sammy - I'm in Brighton on 4,5,6 May for a hen weekend if you fancy a coffee and becoming number 23! You blew me out the last time :o(

Not so easy in Canada and the states Sam, unlike the UK with one time zone where most places are within easy travelling distance the mainland US has 4 time zones and Canada has 5 time zones, for folks like me it would be just as easy to jump on a plane and visit the UK and the cost would be about the same if I used "cheapo" flights.

Thought I might as well mention here that I'm back in Brighton July 24th - Aug 1st (my Dad's 85th on the 26th), so if anyone's around then I'd love to have another meet up. Alternatively, am happy to travel up to London if it's easier for people (I know it's not all about ME!), although that week is when the Olympics start, and so it could be a bit busy!

I'll mention it again closer to the time, but wanted to give you all a chance to arrange your summer holidays accordingly ;) <--- that was a joke!

I really would like to meet as many Deliarites (just made that up) as I can - everyone seems so lovely :)

I can do 24th. Would really like to meet up but due to work and holiday this is the only day that I can do. X

The only problem with the 24th is that I won't actually be there until the evening - which is not a huge issue for me, as I do go out after dark at times :) - but not sure it would suit others - but anyway, it's a while off yet, so plenty of time for discussion!

John's point about the size of the US and Canada is so true. The scale of the land mass is very difficult to imagine until you visit.

Toronto, for example, is in the province of Ontario in Canada. Ontario has more than one time zone and is larger than France and Spain combined. And this is just one of Canada's 10 provinces and three territories. It is an extraordinarily large country. That's why it was easier for me to do a meet-up with our James in Brighton than it would be to meet up with many Canadian members!

Meet Up.

Oh that was a great day wasn't it, Jampling. :) Oh the vino consumption!

I've met so many wonderful people through this site, made some wonderful friends. I always look forward to Darkginger coming over to see her Dad too, as with so many of the people I've met from here, I felt we just clicked right away and I now totally count her as a friend, not just an "internet friend" if you know what I mean.

Will def meet up with you, Dark, when you are back, either I'll come to Brighton, or you pop down on the train and we have lunch oin London.

Sadly the last met with many friends was a sad occasion in London . Hopefully I can join you at one in the future. As James said made many friends on here whom I see or talk to on a regular basis .

The evening on that date would suit me, I can do either London or Brighton as I'm half way between the two with good rail links.
