Chicken

I've just read an article which says that 1 in 5 supermarket chickens are contaminated with potentially deadly food poisoning bacteria. Chicken is one of my favourites, so versatile and always have some in the freezer. I'm now having second thoughts....is anyone else?

Chicken

Not really - I've always treated chicken as though it's full of nasties, salmonella etc. So long as it's properly cooked, I think we'll survive. I'm a bit paranoid about it, and wash knives, chopping boards and so on as soon as I've finished preparing chicken with them. I know it's illogical, but I'll happily eat raw and undercooked eggs - just somehow I've always seen chicken as a threat - but that doesn't stop me eating an awful lot of it!

CHICKEN

I don't think that the news you have read is anything that wasn't known about previously - some newspapers like to stir things up a bit every now and again.

I am like Ging - just make make sure its properly, thoroughly cooked and all will be well, as the cooking process kills off lots of the little nasties.

And i am also like ging, in that i am a bit of clean freak with knives and boards and hands when i touch chicken.

Don't worry at all - after all your still here with us, and you have obviously been cooking and eaten chicken for a while (and i mean no offence by that comment).

Many thanks folks for your comments etc. I'm most particular on cleanliness myself, with regard to food, especially when it is to do with chicken. As mentioned (and no offence taken)I've been eating chicken for a number of years now and as a child, when we had our own chickens and having a frig. was unheard of, we didn't get upset tums. Love the look of the baked crispy chicken advert on the right hand side of this page!
