Delia's Christmas on DVD?

Our family has grown up with the original 1990 Delia Smith's Christmas.
Indeed our Christmas preparations start with a viewing of the video in anticipation of much loved food and recipes. The music from the series evokes Christmas as much as Carols from Kings. However, we now no longer have a video player. My husband tried to transfer the video to CD disk but the quality is too poor to watch. It really feels like something is missing if we can't watch Delia.
Does anyone else agree with me that there would still be demand for the original DSC on DVD? I do hope so.

DSC on DVD

Absolutely agree! I still have the video-taped Christmas which I treasure amd am now so scared of the tape getting damaged that I don't play it too much! We intend to get a machine that will transfer it onto DVD. Every dvd I find is not for playing here in the USA and I can find very little of Delia on YOutube.com. Christmas wouldn't be the same without "Delia's Christmas" which is timeless and enjoyable again and again.

DVD

All of Delia's television programmes are owned by the BBC, and she has no control over what they release or in which format.

You would be best to get in touch with them direct and see if they have any plans to release the Christmas programme in a better format.

Delia's DVD's

I've been it touch with the BBC who have told me they think there is not sufficient demand for Delia DVD releases.

There have been two released.

Ultimate Delia which is a four disc set feat different bits from many different series. This is now discontinued but you can still obtain it from many places who have stock remaining.

"Delia's Classic Christmas" which only came out a few weeks ago. This is not the Christmas programme previously available on VHS, but the Christmas special from a couple of years ago. This is a budget release as its only about 50 minutes long.

The second one was not released by the BBC, they have let someone else do it, again, this is normally something they do for titles that they don't expect to shift in huge quantities.

Delia's Christmas

The original series is re-run on tv every year, I have Sky and its on I think something like the Good Food channel. I wouldnt buy a dvd because I can watch it easily on telly.

Delia's Christmas on DVD?

Thanks for your comments. I might try the BBC. Unfortunately we don't have Sky and no plans to. I still think there would be demand for the original Christmas on DVD.
Best wishes

Delias Christmas DVD

I have contacted the BBC but they say there is no demand so please all get in touch with them and maybe they will listen. They seem out of touch to me.

Delia's Christmas on DVD

I certainly do agree. I had exactly the same problem when I tried to copy my rather over-stretched video on to a DVD. I have tried to record them from the Good Food channel burt it's just not the same. As Delia would say "Let's start a campaign" and e-mail the BBC to re-release the series on DVD and while they are at it they can re-release all Delia's other superb programmes.

Delias DVDs

Is it too simplistic to suggest you look on Amazon, or aren't they what you are looking for?

Delia's Christmas on DVD

Yes, it is a bit simplistic, Welshcookie!

It has not been released on DVD so I'm doubtful that Amazon are selling something that does not exist!

Video to DVD

If you already have it on video then you can look online for a company who puts videos onto DVDs.
I have done that with a few family videos and they come out well.
If you don't then you can still purchase the video and then have it put on DVD.
I wouldn't recommend trying to do it yourself if you have the facility.
Good luck.

Delia's Christmas DVD's

Yes, you can do it yourself if you still have a VHS player, but firms that offer transfers from video to DVD are only allowed to do so with video that you own the copyright to.

They are not legally allowed to copy a programme owned by the BBC (or any one else) from VHS to DVD for you. To do so would be against the law.
