can you put royal icing on top of fondant icing

can you put royal icing on top of fondant icing

I am making christmas cakes and one person doesn't like marzipan,so asked could i put fondant icing in place of the marzipan but they also want the royal icing on it.

Hello,

To be honest i wouldn't try, the fondant won't dry enough like marzipan so when the royal icing is put on the fondant might melt.

Can't the person just eat the cake & avoid the marzipan.
What about your other guests that like marzipan. or

If you really want to make the person happy why not do a tiny cake just for her/him with just fondant.

Royal and Fondant Icing

For heavens sake Diane, does he want jam on it! I'd stick to one or the other, but mixing the two could be a sticky mess.
