Candymelts

Has anyone got advice on using candy melts? I recently made cake pops and bought these to coat them. Despite following the instructions I found that the pink ones took much longer than stated to melt and didn't become as liquid as they should they also set very quickly and when I tried to remelt them they just became a big solid lump. The blue ones, well I won't even go there!
Would love to hear anyone else's experience with them. On a positive note they tasted nice!

Candy melts

I have used the American Candy melts and if you add a little Crisco (vegetable shortening) to them as they melt they will stay liquid.
