Mashed potato

Does anyone freeze it? I have a bowl full left over from last night & don't really want to use it again today, or even tomorrow. Will it freeze? I know you can buy it frozen, but I have added cream & butter to it so wasn't sure whether how it would react.

Freezing Mashed Potato

I'm sure there are ways of successfully freezing mashed potato but whenever I've frozen it I've been disappointed with the watery texture once it's thawed. It might be better with just butter and no other liquid.

frozen mash

Hmmm, that's what I wondered. I suppose I could test a bit & see what happens. It's only spuds I'm wasting after all ....

I 'd fry them for breakfast tomorrow lovely with fried eggs and maybe some bacon.

I could do that actually - could have a decent late brunch maybe, then nothing until tea !?!

FREEZING MASH

I sometimes freeze Shephard's pies topped with mashed potato and the freezing does not seem to alter the texture. However, reading the last post you have probably eaten them by now!

Mashed potato

I've successfully frozen mashed spud, swede and carswede (carrots & swede together). All with just butter and seasoning in. In fact, you've reminded me to take some carswede out of the freezer for tomorrow.

Mashed Pots

I'd say it was worth a go, it's only a couple of mashed spuds when all is said and done.....nothing ventured and all that . If you would have thrown them away anyway.

Mashed potato

Anyone else remember, years ago, when we used to pipe them into Duchess Potatoes and freeze them and then cook them from frozen?
Was that in the Faffy 70s?

Mash ...

Froze some, but didn't pipe into fancy duchesse shapes first!! I thought afterwards that I could have made potato scones.

Mashed Pots

If I have any left over and also have veg I mix it all together and shape them into burger shaped then you can just pop a couple of a greased baking sheet and bake them or fry them along with your breakfast bacon. Yummy x
