has anyone heard of truffle salt .I gather its not cheap from what ive heard,i think its Italian not sure .its black truffle salt im after .tried the usual supermarkets no luck so far .has anyone on here used it before and if so what is best used in . thanks

Never used it, but Amazon have some - seems to be about 15 quid for 100g, so it's not cheap like you say, but I assume it adds the flavour of truffles to whatever you grind it onto. You'd probably also get it at Waitrose??

I have some white truffle oil, which is just olive oil infused with some shavings of truffle, nice enough for a dressing or for drizzling, but I've never used the real thing.

Have you got a recipe you want to try truffle salt in? Do tell ... What is it for?

hi qop well ive been told that this salt sprinkled all over a whole chicken before it is to be roasted is delish .just smear ya melted butter all over then sprinkle this Italian truffle salt over then roast .yes I know it not cheap but they said it lasts for ages.i have looked on line at waitrose but I couldn't find it .so I am wanting to try it .as we do love roast chicken.but just wondered if anyone on here had tried it .

I purchased this after seeing it on offer in a food mag think it was around £12(could have been more) for 100grms. The name on the lid is Tetsuya's. You don't need much seems very strong flavoured I use it occasionally. Quite like a pinch in scrambled eggs. I should experiment more! x

hi QOP sorry been poorly last few days so not been on laptop ,and yes sure will let you know what the chicken tastes like when I do finaly get round to buying the salt .cant find in in supermarkets so il end up getting some on line I expect .feel lot better now .had the worst sore throat cold etc .hubby only had me drinking cider vinegar .omg vile or what .but it did the trick sore throat gone .oh it was wicked taste .but do recommend it .lol

Cider vinegar?? Was he trying to kill you or make you better? Glad you're feeling better though!

I've been back at work proper today, really difficult getting up this morning....
