Enriched yeast dough won't rise

It takes at least 4hrs for my dough to prove. All the recipes say it should take 1/2hr. What am I doing wrong? I use quick action dried yeast.

Enriched yeast dough

Francine, you probably need to put it in a warmer place if you want it to rise quickly. In the winter I place the covered bowl into a slightly warm oven (mine's electric so holds the heat well). It doubles in size after about an hour, sometimes a little longer. I tend to go by volume rather than time and knock it back once it has doubled. Once it is in the tin/s I leave until risen above the top of the tin. Hope this helps to answer your question. I will be happy to help further in any way I can though I don't claim to be an expert by any means, I just use my 25 years of bread-making experience!
