Pumpkin Seeds

Are the seeds found in pumpkins the same as the seeds you buy in packets. If so, can anyone tell me the best way of preparing them to eat. Also, are other types of squash seeds OK to eat?

Pumpkin seeds

All are safe to eat. But they vary according to variety as to whether they have well filled seeds and a good flavour.
For longer storage they need to be washed clean of any bits of pumpkin and dried.

Preparing Pumpkin Seeds

Thank you Welshcookie. I've always imagined they'd be OK to eat but have never heard of anyone preparing them from scratch from ordinary pumpkins, so have always thrown them away in the past.
