Avoiding soggy meringues

Avoiding soggy meringues

I need to make meringues in advance and fill them with cream about 8 hours before they will be used.Delia's recipe for meringues is great but is there anything I can do to stop them going soggy when I add the cream such a long time before the meringues will be consumed?

Soggy meringues

I don't think there is any way you can fill meringues with cream so far in advance and stop them going soggy.
Can you not travel with whisk, cream and meringues?
Or fill them with a layer of chocolate. Or take something stable which you can fill them with at the last moment?
