Cakes that post well

Hello. My son is stationed abroad, somewhere extremely hot and has requested some home baked cake! Do you have any suggestions, other than flapjack, that are fairly robust and can be well wrapped? I think parcels will take about a week to reach him.Chocolate/cream/frosting are all out because of melting. Today I have made a batch of Nigella's Guinness gingerbread, I think that will travel ok.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated!

A good fruit cake would do well wrapped in tin foil and packaged well. I also think that cakes cooked in a loaf tin would do well. A cherry Madeira or lemon drizzle cake would be good.

Also , how about a chocolate refrigerator cake, maybe better in the colder weather. Also, Nigella has a great tray bake recipe for a chocolate malteser tray cake. Think it may be in my profile but if not its easily found with google.

Given that the post is taking on average a week to reach destination, I would suggest fruit cakes.

Jamaican gingerbread - as you say you have made. Dundee cake. Christmas cake/fruit cake. Bread Pudding. But with this type of cake comes a hefty postage stamp, ie weight.

Also the above type of cake will be more robust to handle the throwing about by the royal mail/airmail staff/areoplane loaders/and the sorting offices in the other country.

Also do be careful about where you are posting to, many countries have import bans on certain goods - can you send food stuffs to that country? your parcel maybe intercepted by customs - and may never reach your son.
