Fennel

I hate fennel, dill, tarragon and things aniseedy! I am on the 5:2 Fast Diet and lots the recipes seem include fennel - what can I substitute for this awful vegetable, or will I just have to ignore all recipes which have it?

Pak Choi?

How about the bulbs from pak choi. Personally I think a lot of the aniseed flavour goes when fennel is cooked but if you don't llke the flavour of something, you can usually taste it anyway.

Thanks for the reply - sadly our local supermarket doesn't have exotic things like pak choi - but next time I go to a decent one I will try your suggestion.

Fennel

I would do thinly sliced celery or white cabbage depending on the recipe.

Thank you Lindsey, cabbage would be good - I don't like celery either!! I didn't realise what a fussy eater I am until I started this fasting diet!!
