Strange rise to cake

I have made Delia's Lemon Curd cake from her original book quite a few times with good results. However I have always baked it in 8inch tins until today! She recommends that a 7 inch tin is used and I bought two of the Delia range to use. The cakes rose spectacularly in the middle and were cooked after the allotted time. However when I turned them out on to the wire rack they had risen up underneath too and the bottom of the cakes have huge diples in them. What has gone wrong and what can I do to prevent this? I have never had this happen before.

Thanks

That does sound strange. What did you line them with and did you put the tins directly on the oven rack?
