Apricot oat slice

Apricot oat slice

Hello All

Until now I have never been able to buy oats but managed to buy a couple of packets and although the packet states 'no cooking' as it's for yogurt or to make muesli it made a passable porridge. I made the apricot oat slice but it so crumbly there was not one whole piece only small chunks and separate flakes. I used ordinary plain flour (whole flour being not readily available)and ordinary sugar - can't get fancy sugar here only Demerara - would I have been better using the Demerara sugar? I even cooked it a bit longer but it made no difference or could it have been the oats?

Apple & Apricot Treacle Tart Bars

I have the recipe for this and have made it. It's lovely. This recipe contains light muscovado sugar and plain flour + castor sugar.
Would be pleased to bash out the recipe for you, if you'd like.
Don't know where you are Wendy so can't help re ingredients not available to you.

Sounds heavenly Thistledo but I can't get Muscovado sugar, treacle, molasses or golden syrup! The Sardinian people don't know what they are missing!! Thanks for the offer anyway/
