Victoria sponge wedding cake

My daughter has been asked to make a tiered wedding cake based on a Victoria sponge but has no idea how that would a) work in wedding cake sizes b) how would you decorate that and go about stacking and supporting the tiers and c) how far in advance could she bake the whole thing? Sorry a lot of questions but she's in a panic after agreeing to carry out the task!!

Wedding cake

A madeira cake would be more suitable as it keeps better and is firmer.

A victoria sandwich really should be eaten the day it is made, it stales very quickly.
