Molasses Syrup

I have a recipe which calls for 1 tsp of molasses syrup. I don't have syrup but I do have the sugar. Can I make sugar into syrup, using equal amounts of each.

Molasses Syrup

You will most probably find molasses in a health food store, maybe Holland and Barret?, but before you go gadding around, phone around to find a source.
I don't think your solution would work very well as you would be unable to replicate the intense flavour of molasses, your best bet if you can't find any is to use black treacle.

Molasses syrup

John, I agree with you 100% except the suggestion of black treacle. Over here Fowlers is the most usual and it has a very intense flavour. As you say, molasses is available but Brits are not so familiar with it...I'd suggest Golden Syrup as a sub or for a posh job some lovely maple syrup from your part of the world :)

BTW - going great guns on the kitten diet, thanks.
