I LOVE Brisket Beef

Probably in a slow cooker you could easily cook for 6, maybe even 8 hours.

I tend to do it slowly, in the over for about 3-4 on 140.

I dont bother with searing the meat. I just pop it into the dish, surrounded by a carrot, an onion, a bay leaf, or other root veg that will hold up to long cooking. For the stock, i buy one of those miniature bottles of red wine, make up to about three quarters of a pint with some stock, pour this over, lid on, and away it goes.

When I am ready to eat, I remove the beef and the veg, use some cornflour to thicken and make the gravy with the stock. Divine!

Slow cooked brisket beef

Our favourite! Always pot roast it on the hob. Always 'hit' it first on all sideson a high heat, then turn heat down to lowest. About an hour before it's cooked, I introduce an onion and potato portions - the juices just soak into the spuds. Other than a tiny drop of oil to start it off, I don't use any other liquid until the beef comes out to rest. Then I pour in some red, cook the alcohol off, thicken and we're ready to go.

Would think the piece you've bought would only take an hour and a half. Turn it over half way through. It'll melt in your mouth.
