my grandaughter will be 11 soon and has asked me to make her a small 3 tier sponge cake ,im thinking 8inch for base one ,and its got to be round ,she has even drawn a picture of what she would like it to look like .hot pink rolled fondant with black spots and a black bow on the top .no pressure here then ,where do i start ? any help would be great or tips ,thanks so much

have you had a look in lakeland - they have 3 different sized tins - called topsy turvy.

that sound perfect for your needs. It will work out fairly expensive, BUT....could be an investment for the future.

I think they look really good.

and the only review seems quite good.

other wise its a case of making 3 square cakes or 3 round ones. but this make it slightly different.

tesco and sainsburys sell re-inforced cardboard cake stands (muffin/cup cake)

which are in 3 layers..

could you not adapt her idea of a whole 3 tier cake, to 3 steps on the cake stand? each layer decorated to her liking and the final top cake with the fancy bow.????

thanks sam im gonna check them 3 tins out at lakeland website first ,cos yes its got to be 3 tier cake or il get no peace from missy she has left me the picture of what she would like on my mantel ,huge hint or what ,great help though thanks

Hi Sam ive just checked them tins out at lakeland .they look great but they will work out about 48 pound for the set of 3 ,so they are bit out my budget .so will sort my old tins out and il have to make do .and cut the sponges down to sizes that i need to make .i dont want a large 3 tier one .its just for her family tea with couple of her mates .and she will be happy at that .( I HOPE ) LOL
