Chicken breast from frozen?

No. Absolutely not.

You must defrost it before you cook it - you can so this slowly in the fridge, in a cold room, or if you must, zap on the defrost programme of a microwave - but watch it carefully, as it can have hot spots & that worries me as much as the idea of cooking from frozen. You must also then let it rest to equalise the internal temp & you must make sure it is fully thawed.

Or you could let it thaw a bit, then chop it up to speed the defrosting (smaller pieces defrost more quickly).

The only exception is where you buy a ready type meal & it says you can do so.

TOUGH OLD CHICKEN

Hi,
Personally I wouldn't do it, as by the time you got the chicken hot enough to be sure you've killed all baddies that would give you food poisoning, it would be tough as old boots.

Chicken Breast.

I'd not say "absolutely not" but I'd not recommend it.

After all, you can get plain chicken breasts in the freezer section that are just plain chicken and give instuctions on how to cook from frozen, although, again, the packs I've seen always say defrosting is better.

I'd also never defrost anything in the microwave, although as I've said before, I refuse to eat food that has been microwaved anyway. Revolting machines.

I wouldn't either.
Apart from bacteria problems agree meat would be tough.
They don't take long to defrost though.

That is VERY true!!!

I do a chicken pasta bake which is popular. Take the chicken out of the freezer. 10 mins later, you can dice it, 20 mins after that, its ready to use. It defrosts so quickly.

Easy!!!

:)

Frozen Chicken Breasts

Well Then!
If you can't cook chicken breasts from the frozen state how come you can buy them uncooked and frozen with instructions to cook them from the frozen state?, I have done it many times.

You can cook from frozen. The texture would no doubt be better if thawed first.

People seem to have an obsession with bacteria. If everything is cooked thoroughly, surely not a problem.

Never noticed any change in flavour, they thaw very quickly once in the oven, the thing is not to overcook then so they dry out, as soon as the juices run clear when poked with a fork they are done.
