Baking Bread

Can someone tell me if (when making bread) you can prepare, knead and prove it the night before then leave it overnight to bake in the morning?

Baking bread

Yes you can, if you knead, shape, place in the baking pan and cover you can final proof overnight in the 'fridge or in a cool room or even the garage if it won't freeze. The next morning, if necessary, place in a warm oven to bring to size and bake at the normal temp.

Bread

Yes - I agree. I made some dough this morning, left till 5pm before shaping & it is now in the unheated utility room where it will stay till morning when I bake it.

Bread

I agree with the ladies. I often make it in the evening, kneeding away with a dvd on. Pop it into the oven when I get up, go off to shower etc and go back to the kitchen to that wonderful smell.

I think it is more resilient than people realise.
