Slow Cooker

My lovely new slow cooker has arrived and I'm thinking of cooking a piece of ham/gammon in it. Has anyone done this?

Slow Cooker Ham

Some of the recipes I've found have added liquid and others don't. Does it make much difference?

slow cooked ham/gammon

as a guideline.

for a 1kg piece of boneless gammon/ham.

add any veggies you want to add flavour, ie leek, onion, celeray, carrot, bay leaf, peppercorns etc etc.

put all in slow cooker and pour over just over a pint of water (till it just covers the meat. put lid on and cook on high for 5-7 hours - until the meat is cooked through - as your slow cooker is brand new i would think 5 hours is ample time.

then if you want to you can glaze it and bake the ham, strain the stock and freeze etc.

Instead of putting water in the slow cooker with the ham joint, try using cider. Plus I always add a good pinch of demerara also.,
