Covering for a coffee cake

Hi there, Just made a coffee cake - old 50s recipe with buttercream topping and filling. Anyone got a topping that isn't as sweet as this is - ugh - its too much.

Thought I would scrape it off and make another a bit more like a chocolate and cream may look like.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks. Cassie

Coffee cake

I don't like buttercream either, whatever it's flavoured with.

I use mascarpone as a topping and filling with a bit of sugar added, I don't think it's necessary but my Italian friends prefer it sweetened.

I have also use melted chocolate without added cream but only on cupcakes.

I have a recipe for ricotta with coffee added but that might be a bit too soft for a topping.

Computer was showing page expired but page cannot be found when I pressed submit for approval. Is anyone else having problems or is it a one-off glitch or is it just me again?

I'm having problems today. The computer didn't show 'page expired' but 'The page cannot be found' when I pressed 'submit for approval' This is the first time I've posted since we bought a new computer so I'd be interested if other people are having the same problem or if is it a glitch or is it just me who is not computer literate?

Deliaonline does that from time to time; it's not you. Dont re-send your post, just go back to the thread and you'll see your post is there.

PS to "page expired", clarify

Happened to me just now, for the 2nd time today. It said "Page not found". You have to return to the Discussions page, then find the thread you posted on, and your post will be there. That's rather than going back, which would return you to "page not found."

Apologies to Cassie/Jillymiskin for putting her question off track!
