Nut-free Christmas cake

Hi,

Has anyone tried to make the classic Christmas cake listed on this site without the almonds. I'm making it for a friend and she has a nut allergy.

Thanks!

I haven't but it will be fine to make up the weight with extra dried fruit.

I have never put nuts in my cake, simply because some people don't like them. As there are so few I have never made up the difference with other ingredients and it has never been a problem. Of course you can if you like.

Sorry Anita,
I kept getting a page saying I could not submit my message so I kept trying. It appears I could after all.
I guess I've made my point.

LOL, poor Bill....

I can only echo Bill's sentiments - I always leave them out too, for exactly the same reason as Bill, and i make the missing weight up with wahtever dried fruit, i tend to use dried apricots, apples and or pineapples. all of which you can get from the supermarket int he same aisle as the raisins and sultanas etc. Or add up all the dried fruit weight and buy a really nice luxury mixed dried fruit pack.
