unripe tomatoes

This year I have been left with a lot of unripened tomatoes. Does anyone know of a way to ripen them please? I do not have a green house so have to try and ripen then in the house. Thanks for any advice.

Unripe Tomatoes

I've been told to put them in a bowl or on a plate with a very ripe unpeeled banana. Not sure if this works as I haven't tried it myself.
