Delia's Christmas Cake - How Much Brandy

I've my cake baked and given its first feed. I know you feed it about every ten days or so but in total ie. from now to Christmas how much would you feed your cake? 50mls, 100mls, 200mls?

feeding christmas cake

I feed mine approx every 10 days or so - if i remember.

and i do 1 - 2 tablespoons of brandy (or in my case rum) each time.

if you did 200mls, every 10 days or so, you would certainly get arrested for drink driving after a slice, lol.

In fact - if you didn't feed your cake, as you simply forgot - it would be detrimental in any way.

"if you did 200mls, every 10 days or so, you would certainly get arrested for drink driving after a slice, lol."Good god No! 200mls from now to Christmas that's what I was thinking, but I'm still wondering is that to much?

feeding

like i said, its not vital that you feed your cake every week anyway.

if your intending on marzipanning and icing, don't feed a week before you marzipan, as it can bleed through, dis-colour that, then seep into the icing.

If you remember just do a tablespoon or 2 at a time.
