baking tin conversion

I was given a walnut cake recipe in Greece last year but do not have the size tin used. 22-23 centimetres x 31 centimetres. I think this converts in approx 8"x12".

Would I be able to use a round or square tin and if so what size?

Hope someone can help.

If you click on the Information Centre on the left of the screen there is a section on scaling up fruit cakes which will probably help.

I usually guess, being quite imprecise about these things.

I find though that round needs to be slightly bigger (an inch or so) than the square equivalent because you lose the corners, but provided the tin I want to use is deep enough, it matters less. And if it's a traybake, it doesn't really matter if it is shallower as long as you don't overcook it...?

Tin

8 x 12 = 96

10 x 10 = 100

9 x 12 = 108

It matters not a jot in the scheme of things; use what you have.
