Mixed Peel / Candid Peel

Please can anyone help me with a recipe for Candid Peel.

I cannot find mixed peel / candid peel where I live, so would like to make my own Candid LEMON Peel.

However, I've tried looking on the internet, but all I can find is recipes for Candid peel where you cut the peel into thin matchsticks, boil in sugary syrup, and finish off by rolling in sugar.

But this isnt what I'm after. I'm after the little pieces of candid peel which can be used for baking ie in a fruit cake. (The pieces are sticky to the touch and not coated in gritty sugar).

Please can anyone help with my frustrating problem?

Thank you.

Candied Peel

I thought that nearly all UK supermarkets would sell mixed peel, in tubs, near glac&"233; cherries and dried fruit. I've occasionally bought it in Sainsbury's. Sometimes, though not always, they have Sundora whole candied peel (orange, lemon, citron) - I bought some a year or so ago. You can also buy packs of combined mixed fruit - raisins, currants, sultanas & mixed peel. The home made stuff, I'm sure, will taste fab but too much faffing around for me. I guess if you make it you'd just have to chop it up to the size you want. But have you tried health food shops or cake decorating shops?

Candied Peel

Forgot to say - I have a book called Home Preservation of Fruit and Vegetables which gives detailed instructions for making your own candied peel but as you've found already there are various recipes online.
