Stir Fry

Yesterday I bought the ingredients for a Stir Fry - (Chicken Breast, Prepared Mixed Veg, Noodles) OH now says he doesn't want Stir Fry for his meal this evening but I do. I see that the mixed veg and noodles have to be used by today. I can't eat all the veg and noodles myself and I don't want to eat another Stir Fry this week so can I freeze the veg/noodles? I know I can freeze the Chicken. Many thanks.

Stir fry - freezing

hmmm interesting.

I would say yes you could freeze, but, if there are beansprouts in it - i would, if you got the patience pick them out - they don't freeze very well at all - if you have noodles, onion, bamboo shoots, peppers, cabbage, mushroom, carrot, mange tout, baby sweetcorn etc in your mix then yes - but i would defrost the ingredients in a sieve over the sink - so that as much water disappears and your stir fry isn't watery.

Stir Fry

Many thanks Sam for your response. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal by the way but noticed on the packet of fresh noodles it said "cannot be home frozen" so haven't done so and I put the veg in my compost bin. I wish suppliers would make portions for one person.

Stir fry noodles

It's a matter of taste, but have you tried real dried Chinese noodles? I prefer them to fresh and they come in portion sized units, either slices or nests.

They're designed to be simmered or just soaked in hot water until 'al dente' then drained and rinsed in cold water. Then you can use them in soups (they quickly warm up in hot soup) or fry them. Even if the product says to boil the noodles you can be sure this will turn them to paste so avoid that at all costs.

If you don't have a shop nearby search for "wonton noodle buy uk" or "authentic chinese noodle buy uk" or "asian supermarket online uk".

Stir Friday 13th

Thank you SoniaK! Another year like the last one would be a bit much. Anyhow Friday the 13th seems to be going OK so far.
