John Buchan

Where do we stand on the above?

Despite the somewhat Imperialistic and occasionally slightly racist attitudes (bear in mind that the books were written during and just after the Great War), his books are jolly good adventure stories and I enjoy them over and over again. I think my favourites are "The Three Hostages" and "Huntingtower)

John Buchan

I think my literary education is lacking as I've never actually read anything of John Buchan's and all I can recall is watching the film The 39 Steps which was (I think I'm right)either based on a book by Buchan or the script was written by him? I hope I'm not alone in my ignorance about his works - please someone, tell me I'm not!

39 Steps

I have read The 39 Steps and enjoyed the film. However, the ending of the book and the film are completely different. I have not read any of his other books but perhaps I might if they are still in print. The 39 Steps is a brilliant book.
