Wilbur Smith's "Egyptian Series"

Has anyone read any of these? I love them and am about to download them to my kindle to re-read. Another set of books loaned out and not returned - SIGH!

I'd love my own dedicated library, wing chair, log-burning fire in front of me and a sunlit window behind me (or a good reading lamp,) drinks table beside me and a butler to ensure that my tipple of choice is topped up whilst I enjoy my read. Not likely to happen but the dream is nice.

Wilbur Smith.

Liz, I too dream of the day I have my own library.

However, WILBUR SMITH!!!!

You know the old addage about judging a book by its cover?

I know its wrong, but the covers are always so awful, I've never read one of the books.....

Maybe that makes me really shallow?

How is your kindling going? Im still in love myself, and about 600 books on it now, mainly the free ones.

The thing really does work, despite a certain persons constant attempts on here to try to prove that it does not....

Wilber Smith

I have read all his books, and especially loved his African themed ones. However, I found all his Egyptian ones really hard going. I guess I'm just not into that kind of thing. I still consider myself a "fan" and hope he might go back to Africa one day

Wilbur Smith

Grannie, I love most of Wilbur's books but the Egyptian series really called to me.

James, you should know better than to judge a book by it's cover!! My kindling is wonderful, I'm totally in love and I'll never need to run out of reading material both paid and free and one of the best things, can't "lend" the books anymore and not get my very favourites back. Les likes the fact that there won't be loads of paperbacks around - but he accepts that I'll still have my favourite hardback copies of things. Les isn't much of a reader, he's more into films - I'd rather read than watch a film.

Wilbur Smith

Yes, got the lot, I think, Liz and love them. Nearly got my own little library, the barman is quite good but doesn't attend for duty before 7 pm :0(

What I love is the way the eunoch (Tata ?)takes the credit for 'inventing' most of the things we credit the Egyptians for inventing (foretelling the Nile inundation, etc.). Maybe by next winter I'll have the time to sit, read and enjoy..... Still having to spend a lot of time on my French stuff at teh moment, and for many years to come I suppose :0)

Wilbur Smith.

Actually Liz, this has just started in the US, so assume it will happen for us soon.

You will be able to lend your kindle books to people!!!!!

I don't know the inns and out of how it will work but you will be able to lend a book to me. Its only for a period of 14 days. During this period you will not have access to the book, only me. After the 14 days, it will return to your kindle automatically.

Maybe I'll borrow a Wilbur Smith!
