...by Alice Sebold.Not the usual style of book I like to read but this is a very good read. It is about a 14 year old girl who was raped and murdered and the effect it had on her family and close friends. I believe it is also a film.
Hi Jayne, I really enjoyed this book too, so went to see the film recently. What a let down, don't go! It was so sentimentalised, if you saw this first you wouldn't read the book. It was silly, shallow and not well portrayed at all.
I found this book difficult to read especially the beginning chapters. Brilliantly written though. I haven't seen the movie. I heard the same, that it wasn't as good. I usually find that the book is nearly always better than the film anyway.
Have this book to take on hols with me in May....looking forward to reading it.
I read this book a few years ago on holiday. Did enjoy it , as it is very touching. At the end I was crying my eyes out, and hubby was mystified as to why I wanted to take something on holiday that would make me so sad.
I also read this book a couple of years ago on holiday and realy enjoyedit.I recently watched the film with mydaughter it was so disapointing, ah well i think i will stick to my books.
