The Hairy Bikers "Mums know Best" book....Brilliant same vein as our Delia's, down to earth, good cooking, even Hubby is being inspired with this one.......now that is what I call A MIRACLE !!!!:0) Yummy

That was a great price foxy, I think we paid about €16.99 from play.com with free postage to France. Enjoy your book, we are having the Gurkha Curry (i'ts made with mutton NOT Gurkhas btw !!)tonight, but have cooked it in the slow cooker all day.....not convinced that it would be tender in 30 to 35mins (in fact I know it wouldn't) as they say in the recipe.
Jeremy Paxman's "The Victorians"- it's currently on half-price offer from Waterstone's. I enjoyed the programme last year & look forward to reading it.Am curious about the Hairy Biker's book. Will have a look at it.

Lots and lots of the recipes from this series are (or were) available for download on the bbc site. they include the hairy bikers' own recipes, the mums' recipes plus the recipes from the fairs. Lots of really wonderful old-fashioned cooking. Including, I suspect, an old but unattributed Delia recipe!
ooo-err. Hadn't noticed any mistakes! Can you point me in the right direction? I was only really looking at the baking recipes.
