Starter Cooking for Children

I'm trying to find a cookery book for my daughter who is almost 12 and is desperate to cook. She's started learning some basics at school and I really want to encourage her. Does anyone have any suggestions? Something fun with simple and interesting recipes that will inspire her.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Cilla

It's a thick one but...

Delia's Complete How to Cook will give her absolutely everything she needs to know and it will go on being useful as she matures. I'm sure someone will give you ideas from a "younger" cook but I still think our Delia's book is a great choice.

Cookery Book

Hi Cilla, The All Colour Cookery Book
might be worth looking at.There are two recipes on each page, each with a picture. The book is divided into lamb, pork, cooking with cream, etc some are perhaps a bit old fashioned, but I don't think that's a problem, retro is very in!I think W H Smiths still sell it,or ebay I bought a copy there for my daughter in law.
Happy Christmas,
Stephanie

Sam Stern

Try Sam Stern's books (super cheap on Amazon). Cooking Up A Storm is the first one and a fabulous place to start. Although it is designed for younger people learning to cook, it is certainly not limited to that! There is a foolproof mayonnaise recipe that we use every time and plenty of other tempting options.
