Recycling Cook Books

Well done Tilly in 'rescuing' the 9 books :0)

I just can't bring myself to part with any books at the moment. I know I will have to but hopefully I can have the winter of 2010 to finalise the choice.

My fear is that if I let a book go I will want a recipe from it within a very short time. Yes, I know there is a lot of information on the net but I've been having net problems for a while and my cook books have been essential. I've a huge collection of recipes in a word file but I can't access that at the moment. Thank goodness I have printed copies lurking in the kitchen...

recycled cook books

About three years ago, I threw out quite a few, cookbooks & magazine recipes. And about once a month I regret it when I realise the info I want has gone - boohoo! Next time (if there is one) I might pack them in a box & stash in the garage for five years - just in case!

saying bye bye to cook books

i emptied some of mine out a little while ago too....ones i have defo not used for a long long long long long time.

I have quite a big collection of good food mags too...but i can;t bear to part with them.

there is something very soothing about seeing and feeling a cook book and getting it all splattered and splashed.

i still have at least 50 books, mine are in a converted single wardrobe that my OH has beefed up for me to take the weight.

Recycled cookbooks

I'm like Elpe, and have managed to find two of my old favourites in charity shops, because I foolishly thought I'd chuck them out a few years ago! They were both from the 70's, but such good basic books I always regretted ditching them. I can't throw any away, even the ones now falling to bits and the ones barely opened. And don't get me started on magazines and recipes ripped out of magazines in waiting rooms etc.............. My files are bulging.

I am a member of the Inner Wheel Club and we recycle all kinds of books by selling them to each other at our monthly meetings for about 50p to £1.00 and the money raised goes to whichever overseas charity we are supporting.
