How sad that she has passed away, 72 is no age these days is it? I absolutely loved her writing, her characters were very realistic and easy to imagine in your head.

I might have to go back and read Light a Penny Candle and Circle of Friends again!

Maeve Binchy RIP

Yeah, I was sad to hear the news this morning - really enjoyed her writing. Think there's a few books of hers I've not read yet, so I'll have to go hunting for them. R.I.P.

My favourite is The Italian Class or is it Lesson. The Dear One gave it away and when we moved here. Grrr!

Hi! Wendy,
It was called Evening Class, and yes, it was a great book. To be honest I loved them all in their own ways. I would find it hard to pick out an all time favourite. I recently read Minding Frankie on my kindle......... and I think I am going to have to reread some of her earlier books. I for one, will sadly miss her. RIP Mauve, you were special

Evening Class - Maeve

Thanks for that Granny Cool. That' probably explains why I've not been able to find as I've ignored that book as I was so sure it was The Italian Class!!!

Yes i really enjoyed Evening Class and I also loved Echoes, Circle of Friends and Firefly Summer. I thought some of her later stuff went a bit off the boil but her earlier stuff is still really readable. Light a Penny Candle was positively dark!
