Kindle question

I have downloaded the latest Penny Vincenzi book, The Decision. I'm very excited and am going to keep it for our holiday next month.

Her books are massive and at the front she always lists all the characters and who they are. I will need to keep referring back, and of course, it's easy with a book, but what can I do on a Kindle? I thought a Bookmark would work, but that just gave me something called Clippings on my home page.

Can anyone help?

Kindle question

If I'm in a book, I can click on the second button from the right (don't know techie name) and then click on Go To and I can select cover, contents, beginning, page etc. I'd be interested to know if there's another way.

Hi... I am assuming you mean the 'settings button' which is next to the 'home button' (has a picture of a house on it).

Unfortunately the answer is no.

However if you have an iPad you can download and run the Kindle App... and this allows you to search for a specific word... for example 'lemon' etc.

Cheers...

Kindle.

You can search for a word on the kindle too, no problem.

I do have an iPad, but you can't read them in sunshine. It's a page I need to go back to.

Tubs. I'm the same!

kindle word search

Good Morning... I have just done a test on my Kindle and discovered that it is possible to do a word/phrase search of a book.

Go in to the book you want to search and on any page press the 'keyboard' key (picture of a keyboard on it). Using your navigation key (the big button in the middle) type either the word or phrase you want (it appears at the bottom of the screen). When you are finished highlight and click on the 'Done' option on the keyboard. At this point the on-screen keyboard will disappear and you will be left with a little window across the bottom of the screen that will contain the word/phrase that you typed plus a 'Find' button. Just press the right side of the navigation key and this will highlight the .Find' option. Now press the centre of the navigation key and it will bring up all the matches to your search. You can page through all the results using you 'forward' and backwards' keys that you use when reading. For each search result there is a corresponding location... all you have to do is to find the right one you are looking for... and by pressing the top and bottom of the navigation button you will see that a line is put under a location result... Once the line is under the location of the result you are looking for simply press the centre of the navigation button and it will take you straight to the result you have chosen. You can repeat this as often as you need to.

I hope this helps... I've tried to avoid techy speak so apologies if it comes across as basic... you should see the way I write my recipes! ;-)

Kindle question

Oh Zoom, thanks for that. I have left my Kindle in London, and am away until Sunday, but I will try this and see how I get on. If it works it will be perfect! Thank you.
