Vegan Cookbook

You could try an Amazon search on Rose Elliot - she writes veggie as well as vegan books - 'Vegan Feasts' is probably the most appropriate, but am not sure it's still in print. Also have a look for 'The Bean Book' by her - not vegan, vegetarian, but with a lot of vegan content.

Vegan Cookbook

I have several Rose Elliot books and really like them, but didn't know she'd done a vegan one. She tends to use cheese and butter quite liberally!!

If you Google 'Best vegan cookbooks' you get some useful websites. Or try putting that into Amazon's search window.
I haven't seen any of the books that come up on Amazon, but they have lots of reviews and the top rated ones have lots of 5* reviews.
Personally I find vegetarian is good but vegan is a step too far!!!

vegan cookbooks

Hi Susan,

There is a burgeoning array of vegan cookbooks out there to suit all tastes... I've been a vegan for many years and personally steer clear of Rose Elliot's and Leah Lehman's books- they seem to contain rather cliched recipes rather than taking the foods in their own right and building on their strengths- if that make sense? Of course this is my own inexpert opinion! For a 'new' vegan, cookbooks written by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero such as 'Vegan with a Vengence' and 'Veganomicon' and 'Appetite for Reduction' are great, as is 'Vive Vegan' and 'Vegan Diner'. All of these are written by hugely popular vegan cooks and come complete with good introductions into the world of cooking vegan and a huge diverse range of recipes (NB printing off a cup to gram conversion chart is useful for these American books!) Just a few of the ingredients are a little harder to acquire than standard non-vegan baking counterparts but it is amazing how much more available these are becoming, even in local supermarkets, than five or so years ago. It might be worth letting your friend know that a quick online search will bring up a huge resource of different vegan blogs and websites all offering their unique slants on different cuisines- all the renowned published vegan cooks have their own, many with some of the recipes from their books included for free. Sorry for the novel, I just remember how at a loss I felt when I became vegan, the UK and the great resource that is the internet was not the same place as it is now all those years ago!

first time vegan or healthy cookbook buyer?

hey guys I'm definitely a newbie to this stuff and need a little bit of help. I'm trying to get more healthy in my life and my family's life but it's been tough. I'm looking for a healthy or vegan cookbook and I found this site http://www.squidoo.com/the-best-recipe-cookbook-ever-top-vegetarian-vegan-healthy-new-cookbook and I think the practical paleo: a customized approach to health by diane sanfillipo is something that i'm really interested in after reading some reviews. I was hoping some of you guys might have some experience with the book or suggestions for me. any help would be great!
